Welcome from the

Principal

Hewett Academy is a secondary school in Norwich, with a large campus just outside the city centre. Students have access to extensive facilities, including a new £2m sports centre, professional sports pitches, a swimming pool, a theatre, and a wide range of specialist teaching facilities.

Over 60 pupils recently took part in our demolition workshop day! 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️ Professionals from Anglian Demolition, Kier and the National Demolition Training Group gave a talk to pupils about construction and demolition, culminating in a chance to have a go on a demolition simulator! What a privilege to participate in the Shelter art exhibition on the theme of home. Hewett students’ work around Anglia Square were selected as part of this incredible show. LH (pictured) was proud to see his work in situ. Graphics students’ were highly engaged in the one to one conversations with Maya and with the exceptional and prolific artist Terri Broughton whose work entitled ‘Now!’ inspired many intelligent conversations and ideas for their personal GCSE development.

End of an Era, Beginning of a Legacy Today, Norfolk said a quiet goodbye to the Hewett Academy Sixth Form building—walls that echoed with laughter, late-night cramming, shared dreams, and the unforgettable stories of so many who passed through its doors. Year 11 boys finished off their footballing time at Hewett with a brilliant win in Norwich Schools Communuty Cup vs Sprowston Academy. This topped off their unbeaten season in their Norwich School community league winning all of their games. What a way to bow out!!

An Easter bonnet catwalk completed our spring term. Form group submissions were wide ranging and varied with adapted boxes, baskets and bike helmets. The fashion show was good humoured and supportive and our models delivered great energy and big laughs. Congratulations 11KLA and 10RWI for first place, with 9RHI and 8EST in joint third. A massive Colman win! 💛⭐️🌻🐣🟡

Hewett Academy took part at the Hack-her-thon an all-female coding competition on Friday. The students attended talks with inspirational female speakers from the industry and then had the opportunity to work in a team to design and develop a video game. The students produced a lot of work within their time constraints, and they presented the story and a prototype of the game for the judges to test. Hewett students left a lasting impression with their work ethic and abilities and Amara walked away with a Leadership Award.
