Hewett Academy's Walter Roy Theatre Receives a Spring Clean from Norwich Phoenix Group
BackThe Hewett Academy was pleased to receive volunteers from the local insurance firm, Phoenix Group to help give their Walter Roy Theatre a spring clean.
The volunteers sorted recycling and emptied the theatre spaces so that redecorating can begin. The theatre will soon be in top shape for another excellent year of performances by both the public and the school’s Performing Arts students.
Principal Antony Little said:
“We are so grateful to the 14 volunteers who gave their time to make this happen. One of our very supportive parents came forward at a recent 'Friends of Hewett Academy' meeting and made the suggestion and a few weeks later that turned into action!
Thanks to this brilliant initiative, we now have a space that we can modernise and make bright and welcoming. The backstage areas of the Walter Roy Theatre have never looked so good!”
Celia Boyle, from Phoenix, said:
“Phoenix is a company with offices in many locations. However, every staff member is encouraged to support their local community through volunteering. Supporting the Hewett Academy through clearing the theatre basement was a great break from office work that will hopefully benefit many students.”
Amy Lee, Head of the Creative Faculty at Hewett said:
“We had started this work earlier in the year but it was such a massive job. The volunteers from Phoenix have given us such a boost and we can’t wait to start using the space again.”
