Happy snaps: workshop develops some exceptional photography

Students at Hewett Academy were delighted to welcome photographer Jeremy Webb for an immersive workshop session with GCSE students.

Mr Webb, who has 25 year's experience as a commercial and artistic photographer, author and teacher, worked with the year 10 cohort in a workshop exploring light painting through slow exposures and a range of colour resources.

The students produced some amazing work including multiple exposure movement photography and light painted portraits.

Head of Art Amy Lee said: “The students took part in a highly creative, engaging and experimental workshop with Jeremy. They demonstrated incredible maturity, teamwork and independent self assessment. There was a near vertical learning curve in the use of camera settings and understanding of exposure. It was a tremendous lesson with a talented specialist. ”

Hewett Principal Antony Little said: “It was an incredible experience to see the students hard at work in a darkened Walter Roy Theatre producing some incredible photographs.  The standard of the work is a testament to a combination of their technical skills and sheer enthusiasm.”
